 D20 Home School Academy

Who would benefit from this program?

The Home School Academy is for home school students, kindergarten through eighth grade, who are eager to receive hands-on, inquiry based instruction in science and social studies. Curriculum is aligned to Colorado Academic standards and taught by experienced certified teachers.


What makes Home School Academy unique?

This STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)  Program gives students the opportunity to connect with the curriculum and interact with other students in a small class setting. The STEM Program focuses on project based learning that integrates science, technology, engineering, and math units of study.  Enrichment opportunities include visual art, sports and games, music, and drama. Field trips are fully funded and tied to curriculum, and students have access to a technology computer lab and a lending library. Students also enjoy a variety of clubs, for example, cooking, ceramics, pin-hole cameras, sports and conditioning, etc.

 Mission

The mission of the District 20 Home School Academy is to enhance student learning and to support homeschooling families through quality instruction in varied and enriched learning environments.    

We provide:
  • an enriched and extended curriculum that will complement the core instruction provided by homeschooling educators.
  • homeschooling families access to additional resources that will supplement home school instruction.
  • homeschooling families a connection to the public school setting, but do not offer a full array of education services including special education services.

The Home School Academy is for home school students, kindergarten through eighth grade, who are eager to receive hands-on, inquiry based instruction in science and social studies. Curriculum is aligned to Colorado Academic standards and taught by experienced certified teachers.

 

When is this program offered? The STEM program runs from August through May. Classes are weekly, on Wednesdays(K-5th), Thursdays(K-8th), or Fridays(K-8th) from 8:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m.*
Where does this program meet? This program is located at the District 20 Education and Administration Center (EAC), 1110 Chapel Hills Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
